Terror Strikes Again: Sunni Extremists Threaten Syria with More Attacks!
In a shocking act of violence, the jihadist group Saraya Ansar Al Name, self-proclaimed Sunni supporters Brigade, has claimed responsibility for a horrifying suicide attack that targeted a church in Damascus. This brutal incident left at least 27 dead and over 60 injured, sending shockwaves through the community.
In a grim revelation, the group asserted via their propaganda channels that the attack was carried out by a suicide terrorist named Muhamad Zain Al Abidin Abú Ozman, declaring that “dozens of polytheists died or were injured” and ominously threatened to launch further attacks. Are we standing on the brink of a new wave of terrorism sweeping through Syria?
In response, the Syrian Interior Ministry reported that security forces eliminated two individuals connected to the Islamic State during operations aimed at apprehending those involved in the horrific attack at the Church of San Elías, located in the heart of Damascus.
Meanwhile, Transitional President Ahmed al Shara expressed his sorrow over the violence, offering condolences to the victims’ families, while passionately vowing to bring those responsible for this “atrocious crime” to justice. But can he deliver on this promise?
“This is an attack on our very way of life, and we will not stand idle as radical forces threaten our freedoms!”
Since taking office following the escape of former president Bashar al Assad, Shara has faced immense challenges. Following a fierce offensive by jihadists and rebels led by the extremist group Hayat Tahrir Al Sham (HTS), he has committed himself to fostering an inclusive transition and safeguarding minority rights – but will these measures be enough to keep the rising tide of extremism at bay?
