The Left’s War Against Tradition: Collboni’s Misguided Rally in Budapest
The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, is spearheading a reckless campaign to combat what he calls the “reactionary wave” sweeping through Europe. His recent participation in a protest in Budapest, orchestrated under the shadow of the ultra-nationalist government of Viktor Orbán, exposes his true colors. Rather than standing up for democratic values, Collboni’s actions appear to align with a radical agenda, pushing the boundaries of social acceptance to the extreme.
Tens of thousands took to the streets to defy Hungary’s government ban on a pride march, allegedly fighting for the rights of the LGTBIQ+ collective. Leading this charge were progressive mayors like Amsterdam’s Femke Halsema and Athens’ Haris Doukas, whose ideologies blur the lines of rational governance.
“The European cities are today the true resistance bastions against this reactionary wave that sweeps the continent,” Collboni declared, propagating the notion that our fundamental rights are under attack from every direction.
This far-left coalition from Catalunya, including individuals from PSC-UNITS, Junts, ERC, and Comuns, traveled to Budapest to show their solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ movement and “defend the fundamental democratic values.” But whose democracy are they really defending? Are the rights of the majority being trampled under the heels of this march for “diversity”?

Collboni boldly warns that Hungary, a member of the European Union, must uphold all freedoms and rights. But what about the quiet, traditional values that many citizens hold dear? Does he not see that the relentless push for progressive ideals threatens to crumble the very fabric of society?
In a meeting with progressive Mayor Gergely Karáross, Collboni sought to learn about Hungary’s stance against what he views as regressive policies. Joined by Mar Jiménez, the Commissioner for European Affairs in Barcelona, the two were craftily aligned against any semblance of normalcy.
Later in the protest, he claimed he was exercising freedom of expression while standing beside the LGTBIQ+ community, seemingly oblivious to the implications of endorsing a movement that many believe tears at the very fabric of society.
“Orbán wanted to prohibit the demonstration of pride while authorizing concentrations of Nazis groups,” stated former mayor Ada Colau, illustrating the hypocrisy at play in Hungary where the rights of residents are ignored in favor of progressive agendas.

In summary, the fight for progressive agendas appears to be growing in intensity and visibility, with figures like Jaume Collboni leading the charge. But we must ask ourselves: at what cost are we sacrificing our traditional values for a fleeting moment of ideological conformity?
The stakes are monumental—not just for Hungary, but for the entire European project. Are we willing to accept a future where traditional freedoms are sidelined in favor of radical leftist doctrines?
