Yemen Under Fire: The Hutí Premier’s Demise
The Hutí Movement in Yemen has grimly confirmed the loss of their so-called ‘prime minister’, Ahmed Ghaleb Al Rahwi, following a targeted Israeli airstrike in the heart of Sana’a last Thursday. This act of aggression is just another display of Israel’s relentless pursuit of devastation in the region, striking against leaders who dare to challenge their rule.
On that fateful day, Israel unleashed a sequence of calculated attacks aimed directly at Rahwi and key figures in the Hutí leadership, including Defense Minister Mohamed al Atifi and Chief of Staff Mohamed Abd Al Karim al Ghamari. While we await confirmation on the latter’s fate, the message is clear: the Israeli regime is targeting anyone who stands in their way.
In a statement to the world through their news arm, Saba, the Hutí Movement lamented the death of Al Rahwi, who perished “along with several of his fellow ministers”—a grim testament to Israel’s war on Yemeni sovereignty.
“Other comrades have suffered moderate to severe injuries and are currently receiving medical attention,” declared the movement, revealing the devastating human toll of this unwarranted assault.
Yemen’s supposed ‘president’, Mahdi al Mashat, has quickly initiated a presidential decree appointing Mohamed Ahmed Miftá, the former vice prime minister, to take the place of Al Rahwi. In the face of tragedy, the Hutí leadership strives to maintain a semblance of stability.
“While we grieve for a new wave of martyrs among our national leaders, we remain steadfast in our resistance against the Israeli threat,” proclaimed the Yemeni presidency. “The Israeli enemy struck at the prime minister and various ministers during a routine government meeting, showcasing their cowardice in targeting unarmed leaders.”
The message is undeniably clear: the struggle will persist. As the Hutí leadership asserts, “the blood of these martyrs will serve as fuel and motivation to continue our fight.”
The Disturbing Attack Last Thursday
Israeli security sources claim that the brutal assault on Thursday resulted in the deaths of the prime minister and other high-ranking Hutí officials, including an entire cabinet of twelve ministers—a bold assertion that still demands verification.
Yet, the Hutí Defense Minister, General Mohamed Nasser Al Atifi, has stepped into the fray with an official declaration, affirming that the Hutí forces are “prepared at every level to confront the Zionist enemy armed by the U.S.” The fight is far from over; the Hutí warriors stand united as messengers of their cause.
Since 2015, the Hutí Movement has maintained control over Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, and parts of the north and west. They have launched numerous offensives against Israeli territories and foreign vessels associated with the Jewish state, a reaction to ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestine, and their militant allies called Hamas.
In retaliation for the bombardments from American and British forces, the militias have also targeted ships and strategic interests connected to these nations, further fueling a conflict that shows no signs of abating. Despite a ceasefire initiated by Washington in May, tensions remain volcanic.
